He holds a Ph.D. degree in Engineering from Virginia Tech. He has been doing research & development for the green industry for 15 years. His research areas include watering solutions for landscape plants, relationship of soil/water/air, plant protection against stresses like drought and road salt. His work also provides novel solutions to green stormwater infrastructures, for which plants are used for the treatment of pollutants in stormwater. He has more than 40+ peer-reviewed scientific journal articles, one monograph and 200+ conference presentations. He has been a frequent speaker on Arboriculture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Forestry, Stormwater Green Infrastructure, and related conferences and symposiums.


Gordan Mann

Gordon is the Arboriculture and Community Forestry Coordinator at the Institute of Soil Genomics for Healthy Community Forests. With 45+ years of tree care and sustainability expertise, Gordon co-owns CalTLC, owns Mann Made Resources, and co-founded TREES ROI and The Institute of Soil Genomics for Healthy Community Forestry. His passion lies in nurturing trees to grow to maturity where people live and educating everyone on proper tree care. His book The Trees Where People Live will be published this year to share how to sustainably grow trees where people live. Gordon's influence spans municipalities, non-profits, development, and private tree care, advocating for sustainable practices. As a Director on the California Urban Forests Council and a recent Trustee on the TREE Fund Board, he leads the charge in setting ambitious canopy goals for greener communities. His leadership in industry organizations is well-respected. He is a past director on the board of the Society of Municipal Arborists (SMA) and International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), a past president of the Western Chapter ISA, California Arborists Association, and the American Society of Consulting Arborists, and a past chair of the ISA International Tree Climbing Competition. He also serves on the ANSI A300 Committee.
